ZEPPARELLA DELIVER "A PLEASING POUNDING" AS THEY CELEBRATE
THE MUSIC OF LED ZEPPELIN WITH NEW ALBUM.
With impeccable timing, Zepparella is proud to announce the release of
their new album, "A Pleasing Pounding," from the What Are Records?
label.
The record features live, electric performances of nine classic Led Zeppelin
songs. All are performed with power, precision and a knowing wit by the
four talented women who make up Zepparella.
With music fans across the world still buzzing about Led Zeppelin's recent
London reunion concert, both band and label are joining in the celebration
by sharing the entire album at both Zepparella.com and WhatAreRecords.com.
Zepparella has been building a strong live following on the west coast
over the past couple of years, winning rave reviews for their performances.
This is no costumed, wigged-up tribute band. You'll hear no backing tracks
or misguided attempts at note for note replication.
These are four seriously talented musicians who have loved and studied
this music long enough to make it a part of themselves. The songs chosen
for this album, and the conviction with which they are delivered, prove
our case.
In addition to mainstays such as album opener "Immigrant Song,"
you'll find true-fan favorites such as a burning "Sick Again,"
and the album's undisputed centerpiece, a powerful "In My Time Of
Dying." "One of these days," drummer Clementine promises,
"We're gonna do all of 'Physical Graffiti.'" Spoken like a true
fan, and delivered with the confidence and swagger that epitomizes Zepparella.
See them live as soon as you can, in the meantime, enjoy the album.

Zepparella sign to WAR?, prepare to record new album
On Friday, September 7, Zepparella will be recording their brand new CD
live at The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco.
Zepparella, as you might guess from their name, performs the music of
Led Zeppelin. Zepparella is not a tribute band. There are no wigs and
no backing tracks. Instead, it is a celebration of some of the greatest
music ever written, by four talented women who love it as musicians and
as fans.
The new record will be their first with national independent label What
Are Records?. Zepparella will join label mates and alumni such as
Stephen Lynch, David Wilcox, Fancey and The Swayback at WAR?, who has
sold over two million records since forming in 1992.
"I spent last year working for the label out of San Francisco,"
explains WAR? General Manager Matthew Wilkening, "and when I saw
the band's name on the schedule at Slim's, I thought it would just be
a fun night out. Instead, I got my ass kicked in the best way possible,
went to six more shows, and generally pestered the band for a year until
they agreed to work with us. Zepparella proves there's plenty of room
for interpretation and personal expression, even in these iconic songs
that everyone knows so well. We can't wait to get it recorded and out
to the people."
He's not the only one who's noticed that there's something special here.
Zepparella has been not so quietly blazing a path through the US West
for the past two years in front of ever-growing crowds, recently opening
for KISS and garnering great reviews and a nice article in Drum! Magazine.
They are very excited to record this next effort, to show off how all
their hard work has paid off in powerfully tight shows.
In true Zepparella over-achieving fashion, the night will also feature
Zepparella guitarist Gretchen Menn's debut performance of Sticks and Stones,
her original project with Mickael Tremel and San Francisco institution
Sam Adato on drums. A metal-prog explosion, the band will blow open the
night and properly warp minds in advance of the Zepparella set.
