What Are Records to release Very Best Of The Samples (1989-1994)
CD/DVD
What Are Records? is proud to announce the late autumn release of
our first greatest hits collection in the label's illustrious history.
"Very Best of The Samples: 1989-1994" compiles 17 audio
tracks on CD featuring
original studio versions of the Boulder, Colorado band's classic
songs, including "When It's Raining" and "Birth Of
Words".
In addition, a DVD featuring rare video footage, videos, mp3s, and
the long out of print 10 Wheels, a documentary of The Samples' early
years through 1994, is included. This two disc set will be released
on November 16, 2004. ..
Underrated, but not by their fans, The Samples became a beachhead
of sorts for the underground college rock circuit, garnering rabid
fans and selling out large concert halls nationally. Without the
benefit of MTV, and only a little album radio, The Samples have
managed to sell over 1,000,000 (that's one million!) copies of their
catalogue based on a genuine grass roots campaign. Bands like Dave
Matthews Band and Big Head
Todd & The Monsters later found great success on a road paved
by this dynamic quartet.
This celebratory "best of" also bring The Samples' story
up to date by catching up with the "classic" line-up of
Jeep MacNichol, Al Laughlin, Andy Sheldon, and Sean Kelly. Find
out what the members of the band are up to in 2004 and hear new
material from their current musical endeavours.
A complete tracklisting is available
right here. For the uberfans, there is an exclusive EP of rare
tracks for sale at iTunes right now. You can also view the video
for "Weight Of The World"at iTunes.
