Jonathan Coulton says as his songs have evolved since he first released them, often through feedback at the live shows; he feels the time is right to give fans a new Coulton experience that reflects the evolution. “The live experience is so different from recorded music, it seemed important to have an artifact that actually captures what these songs have become,” he said.
Performance footage is interspersed with video shot by an audience filled with some of Coulton’s most enthusiastic fans. In addition to the performances, Jonathan Coulton’s DVD features cross country day-in-the-life footage of the artist preparing for this very special performance, interviews with Jonathan Coulton, an audio commentary by Coulton and guests, a fan experience documentary, and the YouTube sensation: the Original Code Monkey Dance video! The entire DVD experience is approximately 2 hours.
Jonathan Coulton became an internet sensation three years ago after quitting his day job as a computer programmer and launching "Thing A Week," a year-long project during which he recorded one new song every week and posted it to his website. Millions of downloads later, Jonathan is praised for his witty pop songs referencing subjects like science fiction, math and video games. Jonathan Coulton’s live performances have thrilled sold out crowds across the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
